Mon Adresse a Paris
I am leaving Saturday June 30th from JFK for my two week "Drawing in Paris" Class at Parsons Paris. I will be there staying at La Foundation Suisse until I leave on Saturday July 14th. If any of you kind souls out there would like to send me a letter while im there, my address is:
Lindsey Balbierz
Foundation Suisse
7 K, Boulevard Jourdan
75014 Paris
France
Mail sent after Wednesday June 27th will probably not get to France until after I leave, so hurry to your mail boxes. A letter would be a little slice of home that would be such a great surprise. Also, if any one happens to know any cool, places in Paris, little stores or neighborhoods that are just fabulous, I would be very interested to hear about them. --->lindseybalbierz@gmail.com

So, I'm Back
That's right, I took a hiatus and spent a week and a half back in Cleveland. It was good hanging out, meeting the new puppy, Baily, (aka babycakes, tazmanian devil, bebe, oh the list goes on) having meals with old friends and driving up to Buffalo to spend time with my cousins, aunts, uncles, and my grandparents. This trip let me end the school year on a good note and open the summer with a fresh head.
But back to New York...I am going full throttle for my show at Klatch which will be taking place August 4th - September 8th. This is the sketch for my first painting that I am working on now. I have to accomplish 6 paintings in the next 2 months, given that I will be in Paris for 2 weeks during that time.
Happy Mothers Day
This is the piece I did for concepts that had to incorporate candy. I was inspired by the whole cupcake trend in the city and the claims of different bakeries saying that they indeed have the BEST cupcakes. Well, I just took it a little futher and made a fantasy land. A land where rabbits are guarding the Queen Cupcake and invite you to see her while it is raining sprinkles. Ideally it would be paired with an editorial piece about the search for the best cupcake in New York.
My website
It feels a little belated posting this, but the day has come. My website is up. I have just been making some tweaks to it over the past week, but it's up and running. Check it out:

Some Updates
I have a definite show going on this summer:
August 4th- September 8th 2007
located at Klatch Coffee Bar
Financial District
9-11 Maiden Lane (between Broadway and Nassau)
More details to follow as the date approaches.
Another update, the illustration juniors got our thesis theme for next year:
Global WarNing
"Your thesis should be a personal statement that addresses any global issue such as natural disasters, political upheaval, war, racism, genocide, etc."
I think I am heading in the direction of something environmental...time will tell.
Please pray for my grandmama. She had hip surgery as a result of a tragic fall.
Only 2 more weeks!!!!!
Post-Sims Opening
Thank you to all you out there that came to the opening of The Sims: In the Hand of Artists. There were some very last minute changes with my project to appease the people at EA Games. I guess the use of the word 'cigarettes' in my final version didn't sit well w/ PR, so I had to change it the night before. Instead of the cigarette cartons that I made by mounting my printed out illustrations onto wood blocks, they put up print outs of my work. They are sized up to be around 18x26. Here are some pictures of my original project and then the one that is up now. I also put up pictures of some of my favs. I can't figure out how to put captions right below the pictures, so following my project is the lovely Peter Sriployrung's Garden of Eden, Jessi Kempin [http://iamjessik.com] who won a prize for her painting pictured here, and Florian Sanger [http://www.littlebunch.net].

I also am starting a project in concepts dealing with candy. I was drawing cupcakes to get some inspiration and I thought that these came out well. I bought my domain name yesterday night, so my website should be up in the next week or two. I'll post when I get it up. Well...gotta go back to work. That's it for now xoxo
Come See My Work!
Thursday April 19th marks the opening of The Sims: In the Hands of Artists, a collaborative project between Parsons and EA Games, the creators of the game. I will be having an instillation of the three cigarette cartons that I posted a little bit ago. I should also have some business cards there, so pick one up. A great deal of talent dealing with a variety of aesthetics will be there. Go check it out!

This is a promotional piece that I have been working on for my children's book class. The original work is watercolored, then I scanned it, and put the dotted design in w/ a scanned fabric swatch. The pattern of the fabric is red, so I changed it to a bluish-green. My final will be a mobile, where the fish, whale and shark will all hang down from the water/ocean area.

I received two birthday presents...
...only they came 5 months late. I think hands-down present two is the best present.
Present 1: Dunkin Donut's free iced coffee today. What a great way to end the work day.
Present 2: The safe arrival of Ed back home to the states! This day has long been awaited for the past year and a half. It feels odd that when Ed called me last year and told me he was going to Iraq, and that he would be gone for a year and a half, it felt like it would be forever...I thought to myself "gee, by the time he gets back, you'll be almost done with junior year." This was something hard to fathom back then, but now that I am almost a Senior, it kinda scares the crap out of me. But a year and a half gone by, I have done a lot of growing in the meantime. Pray for everyone else that is still over there. My family got our soldier home safely, but there are still alot of other step-dads, grass mowing experts, flag pole putter-uppers, home depot lovers and dog chasers over there. Well--gotta paint. Chao.
This post is dedicated to you Ed!
