I find that I am in a red phase now. I open my closet and a good majority of it is red, red with polka dots, red with stripes, it's more of a tomato red, like the red of your first tube of red lipstick when you are a freshman in highschool, when you don't know any better but then realize it when you look back at those dance photos once you are in college. Anyways, seems like a lot of people are wearing more color these days:
It's all about 'callah' here in new york this time of year.
From the sartorialist
He is a genious. His blog is an inspiration and helps when i have to draw people with up-to-date clothes. The pictures are impeccable and the people are gorgeous.
This is total deliciousness.
This is genious, palettes inspired by the genious.
Time Out New York
This week has met me with a string of challenges.
They put up my Tricky Wiki illo online here at GO magazine.
Sometimes, I wish I could go back to when I was in 8th grade and went to our Catholic school 'Mixers'.
If anyone knows where I can find some striped leggings like hers in the video, tell me asap.
New Work
I got inspired from reading an article in the New York Times about how some newly minted gay marriages have ended in divorce. I wanted to make an image that could be read both ways, similar to my queen of hearts playing card.
I also updated the site with oodles of new work, well 5 new pieces, some of which have been on my blog already, but it's updated. So don't dawdle, and go look at it :)
Some Extra Joy
This made me so happy! It took my breath away. I had to post it!
I have been working on a lot of boys graphics at the Gap the past 2 weeks, and looked online to see what this season looks like and I got the greatest surprise. That Baby Accessories Dept. sure knows what they are doing. So cute.
Now who wouldn't want one of these?

Haven't Written in a While
Yes. That's right. I haven't written in a while because I haven't had internet at my new place (major bummer), have been working 9-6 at the Gap everyday, moved from one end of Manhattan to the opposite, was workin' on a freelance job (which I may post soon), and got the sad news on Saturday that my beloved grandpa passed away on Saturday evening. Needless to say, I haven't had the time, or the ability, and now my heart really isn't in the right place to make a 'regular' post.
While my grandpa wasn't doing better or getting any younger, the news still hit me hard. And I it still hasn't really hit me, I think I am in shock. His passing came one day before my grandparent's 63rd wedding anniversary, so it was bittersweet. He was the best. Tomorrow morning, I am leaving on a flight to Buffalo for the wake and funeral. I am bringing with me the drawing I did of him awhile ago in a nice wooden frame. I am framing one for me and one for him. Two in all. One will be mine and the other one will be with him. A limited edition of sorts. My grandma insists that we don't wear black at the funeral because my grandpa hated when us ladies wore black.
"Why wear black when there are so many other beautiful colors?" he once said. I agree. So I am going home after work and picking out the most colorful dress I own...xo Grandpa thanks for the memories.
Design Taxi
Preeti Jalan, from DesignTaxi.com emailed me a bit ago to submit my work for their online portfolio community. It took me a while to get back to her because of end of school, but I submitted images to her, and it is now up! You can see it here on the main page since it was just posted. Thanks Preeti for the invitation!
I gotta place....
...in harlem. And I'm moving in about 2 weeks. So sad to see such a large sum of money go so quickly.... :(
Making the most of waiting
The last two weeks
So, I graduated. Finally. Big Round of Applause. And then I flew back to Cleveland for my older sister's graduation
The last two weeks
So, I graduated about a week and a half ago. Finally. Big Round of Applause. And then I flew back to Cleveland with my family for my older sister's graduation two days after mine. My family threw a big hoopla party because, we just had three great reasons to celebrate: my graduation, my sister's graduation, and then my middle sister's birthday. Then following that, Kate and I drove the 6 hour-round trip to Buffalo to see my grandparents before I head back to NYC tomorrow. pheeew! Buckle your seatbelt, here is a recap:

Oldies always put me in a good mood. I remember my mom singing this song to me, "The Birds and the Bees" by Jewel Akens, way before I even knew what the birds and the bees were.
I think I am going to try this out.
Maki
oh how I love thee! This is pure bliss....
I want to go to the Netherlands to visit Maki.
Senior Show
Thank you, thank you to all those who came to my Senior show opening this Wednesday. If you are seeing my blog for the first time, thanks for visiting! It was really great to see my classmates' work all up in one location. It was kinda surreal to have the day come and go so quickly. That day was the event I had been envisioning since I decided on Illustration as a major. Oh Joy!
My friends and I get a well deserved drink post-reception.
Cinders show
I have one or two drawings in this show, along with drawings by my fabulous classmates. The middle drawing above is by me :)
The opening is tonight, and if you can't come tonight, it is up until June 8th.
