Something to think about

Have you seen the American Apparel/Sesame Street limited edition tees commemorating SS's 40th anniversary?

Oscar the Grouch undies here $11.50
Cookie Monster undies here $11.50

I am a little conflicted about this.
First off, I love Sesame Street and fell in love with these tees. And I do like American Apparel clothing in itself (not so much the advertising and the company's attitude).
But the more I thought about it, the more I felt uneasy.

Is AA earning the money with SS's images? They say the images are from the SS archive. Copyright rules makes certain images fair game after x amount of years (I should look into that), so I wonder if SS even consented to this. . .

And something about the whole sex-driven, soft porn persona in AA's photos contrasting against the innocent and docile images of sweet Sesame Street characters seems so blasphemous to me.

Ernie #1 tee here $15
Elmo #2 tee here $15
Cookie Monster #4 tee here $15
Bert Fine #5 tee here $15
The Count #6 tee here $15

Okay, I will get off my soap box. What do you think?

Still cute tees...

LLBean got none of my Beans

I went to LLBean to get on the ball with my raingear shopping.
(I remember last year I was ill equipped for the weeks of rain in NYC and made a mental note of buying fun wellies and a rain jacket come this spring).

Sad to say LLBean, was disappointing, but Lands' End sure made up for it.

Lands' End has some uber cute items. Simple, classic and great, bold, fun colors.

Some of my picks that I compiled into outfits:

A Blustery February Day

umbrella $24
Faux fur hat $19.99*on sale now
Stripe Scarf $19.99* on sale now
Regular SunShower Rain Parka $39.99 *on sale now
Route 63 Snap Tote $138
Lined Wellie Rain Boots $39.99*on sale now

A Spring Shower Morning

SunShower Trench Coat $89.50 on sale now [didn't have my size :( ]
MicroFiber rain hat 12.99*on sale now I could so see my sister Kate pulling off one of these cute bucket hats, def not a look I could do)
Stick Umbrella $29* on sale

And check out their offshoot brand Lands' End Canvas.
It's kinda like JCrew in the silhouettes and styling, a little less expensive and not as bejeweled/shiny. But still great-looking pieces none-the-less.

RagtopCanvas Stripe Tote $34

Leather Sandals $69.50

Leather & Canvas Heel $125

Heritage Trench Coat $199.50

MacPea Coat $79.50

Cruz Time

Amy + I were pseudo-parents for the weekend for Katie's dog, Cruz, a few weeks back.

Quite a little guy.

Lesson learned: dogs are still a lot of work.

But I love being an aunt.

Spring Satchel

I've been thinking more about investment pieces as I get older (ha, older, I'm still 24) but I am trying to be more conscious of what I buy and that it will be a favorite & lasting piece.

So I have been thinking about this sunshine beauty for spring by Sondra Roberts.

What do you think?

"I need my huggins'"

I got the sad news that my grandma passed away this morning.

I was going through old pictures and I quickly made this.
I loved how she called me 'Lindsey Love,' she would always address my birthday cards that way too. It was the little things that made her a great grandma to all of us.

Happy New Years

After a wonderful New Year's party at Mathilde's house (Mathilde's party had a theme: feathers & glitter, so simple, but made everyone look so chic to welcome in the New Year), Tom and I closed the night at Auction House on the UES.

Quite a gem. We're gunna try going back on a weeknight when it is a little bit emptier.

Love this snap of us :)

A lesson in Cake Decorating with Mom

One of my best times home this break was when my mom gave me a step-by-step demonstration on how to decorate a 2 layer cake.

She + Kate took a cake decorating class this past fall/winter and came out Class-A cake decorators.

Thanks Mom! I will try this out for my 2nd red velvet cake!
