This weekend
...was really just fabulous.
It was oh so simple, but I got some more sketching done and have a lot of things that are still in my notebook, but will come to my blog when they're ready.
Some things that are making me happy:
-awesome clients that have lots of good ideas and inspiration
-scoring 2 pretty striped cardis at LOFT perfect for now and good for spring (and they were 40% and I had a gift card)
-cute dot tray I got at FishsEddy for my medicine cabinet
-finally seeing Despicable Me
(this had me + everyone I showed rolling on the floor laughing)
-this beautiful pink daisy from my boyfriend
Have an awesome week!
This week was a week that was one of a lot of reminiscing.
The 12th marked the one year anniversary since my grandmother passed away. My family divided hers and my grandfather's possessions a year ago about this time. I am so grateful that the pieces that I chose are a piece of them that I can wear to remind me of them.
Feeling Spring
77Kids Spring line is now in stores and online.
I was really happy that my travel package was part of the first flow to kick off the Spring season.
Check it out below:
Keep an eye out at your local mall because 77Kids is expanding to a few more mall locations this year!
Back to it.
How was your New Years? Mine was pretty chill, a very quiet evening with my boyfriend. I got back the night before from Cleveland, so I just wanted to keep it simple and easy.
I've been trying to get to cafes more often so I can just zone out and do some sketching. That is one thing that I have missed so much since college. Sketching more is going to be one of my main personal and professional goals of 2011 and I hope to be able to share some of that right here.
So continuing on with my sketchbook....
I guess [pissed off] bundled-up New Yorkers are on my mind, because that is what has been showing up in it lately.
By the time I got back to New York after the 13 hour Amtrak journey, the snow had begun to melt, leaving a slush mess.
Now enter the garbage phase, piles and piles of garbage are NOW just starting to get picked up.
But aside from this, I am really excited about this year. I am working on new invitations, including my sisters wedding invitation suite, as well as couple's portraits, and some new illustrations. I look forward to sharing with you in the coming weeks!
Now, let the good times begin!

Vote for Fishel!
Hey all! I am here asking you for a favor.
A nice illustrator that I met at ICON 6 this summer has been picked as one of 10 vying for the Design Sponge graduate student scholarship.
(illustration is by Daniel taken from his website).
Please take a minute and vote for Daniel Fishel. (Voting is at the very bottom of the page, look for his name.) He is great, and is really deserving of the grad-student scholarship. :)
Thanks all.
And best of luck to Daniel!
Gap'd again
I spied some old art that I made 2 years ago and was originally in last year's Holiday line, recycled on a 7 pack of undies for THIS years Holiday line.
(I was freelancing for GapKids 2 years ago.)
Check out the top penguin. It was fun seeing familiar work in the store again!
And this is what I did for last year's Holiday season.
See all of what I did last year here.

100 Layer Cake
Oh hey! I just joined as a vendor on 100 Layer Cake.
It is an awesome wedding site that offers different vendors online.
While I offer a different style, I would love to help couples on their wedding day invites.
Check it out my page!
77Kids Blizzard + Children's Hospitals
Our brand came up with a pretty spectacular event to help those in need this Holiday season.
Design your own snowflake and if 100,000 snowflakes are made by Dec 14, 77Kids will donate an additional $25,00o to Children's Hospitals. Now if that's not a good idea, than I don't know what is!
Check mine out!
Now go make your own!
77Kids Holiday
I even forgot to post about Fall! I'm behind!
Here is a sampling of what I worked on for Holiday.
You can pick something up on Black Friday! Or even make a snowflake on the website to benefit a Children's Hospital. :)
Art Hound
I just learned about Art Hound a few months ago and the idea is brilliant.
Kate Singleton is the mind and art matcher behind Art Hound.
For $99, Kate presents 4 pieces of art that match up to your art preferences.
Plus she has a great blog where she shares a plethora of artists that are just fantastic.
[She seems like such a rad person, would love to meet her some day.]
So Genius! Go check her out.

77Kids Holiday
I've been meaning to post about our Holiday collection at 77Kids. I even forgot to post about Fall! I'm behind!
Warms my heart.
And would warm my legs too.
This Rainy Day Mini Blanket by Donna Wilson would cheer me up even when it's not a rainy day. So cute and fun!
And yes please to its matching Rainy Day Cushion.
Wouldn't this be a lovely present?
