Branding: Todd H Carlson Weddings

This February through March, I worked on a branding project for Todd H Carlson Weddings.I met Todd when he was my sister's wedding photographer in September. Let me say, Todd did a great job rolling with the punches of the inclemate weather that occurred on my sister's wedding day.

But, back to the project. We worked through a few rounds of sketches and in the end, we decided on a logo with a serif, hand-done font, with watery elements of gouache. For the images used on the main pages of his website, Todd wanted me to incorporate some organic, painted elements that were reminiscent of platinum printing. I added some brushed details to his bio photo (just below) and his testimonial photo (4th image below). All in all, I think it's a really nice touch.

I adapted his logo into a horizontal format and added gouache elements for his blog header.

In addition to developing the logo for his portfolio, blog, Facebook and Twitter, I had the logo made into a stamp at Casey's Rubber Stamps on E. 11th street in the city. Todd will be stamping these guys directly onto the CD packaging for his clients.

I wrapped up the stamps and sent them off to Todd for his keeping.

These are the final promotional pieces that Todd sent to me. Including a business card with a full bleed on the back side, the CD packaging, and his promotional postcard.

Todd is great photographer in Cleveland and would be a great for shooting your wedding, engagement or new baby pictures. Check out his work here. And, again, thanks Todd for collaborating on this project with me!

If anyone is looking for a rebrand of their business, I would be happy to talk!

Moi as Illustrator

Tom took pictures of me a few weeks ago with one of my little illustrated characters.
I have been looking at this awkward, clawed guy hanging on my wall since I painted him my senior year of college. And now he is not a wallflower anymore.

And really, he's quite the conversationalist.

Engagement Pictures

Remember my post about going back to Cleveland w/ Tom?

While home, Tom took the engagement pictures of my older sister, Kate, and her fiance, Bret, near Lake Erie, OH.
I was his 'assistant' which basically meant I held a lens occasionally, but more just stayed far enough back so that I wasn't in the frame ;)

I love how they turned out and am so proud of Tom's work.

Might you have friends who need pictures, you should contact my boy, Tom.

L&T do DC

Tom & I did the 5 hour drive to Washington, DC to check out the Annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

It was my first time to DC so it was really fun to actually lay my eyes on the monuments I usually would see on the nightly news.

Super gorgeous weather (not too humid),
no rain,
friendly people,
cool hotel,
and awesome company.

The only negative: the 7.5 hour drive back to the city. Poor Tom, he drove both to and from NYC. What a trooper!

I was going through old pictures from my cousin's wedding and fell in love with these pictures again. Something about Catholic churches, although very old-fashioned, is very comforting to me.

Plus this church, SS Peter & Paul, in Hamburg, NY is a church I grew up with. This is the church my grandparent's belonged to, that my grandpa was an usher at, and where I could always zone out and read the stories in the beautiful stained glass windows instead.

I see a trend starting...

This weekend, I was so fascinated by the signage that goes vertically against buildings, that I kept finding myself NEEDING to take their picture.

So here they are.

Upstate Fall Trip

Yes, I have been slacking with the posts this last week. It's been a little crazy since my parents left last Monday.

Amy and I packed our bags to take a mini 2-day vacation to Upstate New York. It was really great to get away from the city, see the beautiful foliage and take in the season.

Highlights below

Went to Greig Farms in Red Hook, NY (about a 2 hr drive from Manhattan).

Plus, Amy took me to Woodbury Commons on the way home. Let's just say, some major damage was done w/ my wallet. I didn't realize such good stores were there! Got some cute fall finds.

Phoenicia, NY in the Catskills

At Peekamoose Restaurant in Big Indian, NY. We are HUGE fans now. You gotta, I mean you gotta go here if you go upstate!

Tomorrow is my Birthday. The big 24. I am working on my list of 24...to come in the next few hours. xo

Parents Visit

My parents came in to New York two Tuesdays ago and were here for a week.

Amy + I took my mom out to Rosa Mexicano for her birthday which was Oct.4. Happy Birthday Mom!

She seemed to enjoy her cake platter, cake knife & dish towels from Fishs Eddy (Ed especially liked that they were the absorbent kind).

I was able to take a day off and go to the Intrepid Museum with the fam.

The Growler submarine

Waiting in line.

Say hello to the Growler.

The command center in the Growler. Check out the great vintage colors!

On the flight deck of the Intrepid. Sooo windy!!

I was inspired by this sign which has probably seen years and years of wind.

See more pictures of our Intrepid trip here.

Sitting in my favorite part of the M86 bus, the center part that twirls a little bit. Strange, but my feet don't touch the ground while sitting in these seats which makes me feel like a kid again.

Mom + Daughter pictures at Union Square :)

psst. Should I get my hair cut this short (or at least how short it looks in this picture)?
I am thinking about getting a substantial amount cut off when I go in for a haircut this Friday...

See you at Christmas Mom + Ed. xo

Love was in the air this weekend

I flew to Buffalo for my cousin's wedding. It was just lovely. It really was all that and more than what I had envisioned.

Love and blessings to Josh & Bridget. All pics on my flickr.
